I was required to read Rosalind Krauss's "Notes on the Index: Part 1" for a seminar. In this text Krauss discusses the use of indexical marks in 20th century art practice. I asked students in the class if I could borrow their copies of Krauss's essay so that I could scan in the notes they took in the margins of the text. I scanned in each persons copy of the essay and then erased the text so that all that is left are the notes. I compiled all the notes on "Notes on the Index" into a book with a separate section for each students set of notes. I also photocopied the notes for a coursepack. (2004) |
